Index Institute of Pharmacy, Malwanchal University, Indore, marked World Pharmacist Day with a series of academic and awareness-based activities that highlighted the indispensable role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery systems. The global theme “Pharmacist: Always trusted for your health” was reflected through a workshop, awareness rally, and a poster-making competition. The programs were designed to create awareness on safe medication practices, drug safety, de-addiction, and the evolving role of pharmacists as key members of healthcare teams. Faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals participated in large numbers, underlining the relevance of pharmacy education in addressing contemporary healthcare challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Javed Khan Pathan emphasized that the World Pharmacist Day initiative, launched in 2009 by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), seeks to recognize the multifaceted responsibilities of pharmacists. He highlighted that pharmacists are not limited to dispensing medicines but also ensure rational drug use, provide evidence-based patient counseling, and contribute significantly to clinical research and trials for the development of new medicines. Dean Medical, Dr. G. S. Patel, reiterated the importance of service orientation in the profession and urged students to adopt responsibility, compassion, and scientific rigor as the guiding principles of their careers.
On this occasion, Chairman Mr. Suresh Singh Bhadoriya and Vice Chairman Mr. Mayankraj Singh Bhadoriya extended greetings to all pharmacy students and faculty, appreciating their dedication to advancing healthcare services. The highlight of the celebration was the awareness rally, where students carried creative posters and raised impactful slogans such as “Safe Medicine, Safe Life” and “Include Pharmacists in Health Thinking.” The poster-making competition further encouraged students to present innovative perspectives on themes such as “Medicines and Society” and “Pharmacist: Partner in Health.” The event was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries including Dr. Rouseya Kanaparti (Dean Dental), Dr. Reshma Khurana (Principal, Paramedical), Dr. Prajakta Tomar (Principal), Dr. R. C. Yadav (Additional Director), and H. N. Singh.
