On 3rd September 2025, the students and faculty of the Index Institute of Agricultural Sciences had the enriching opportunity to visit NAFED – Seed & Fertilizer Indore. A total of 60 B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students from all semesters, along with faculty members HoI Dr. Rajendra Singh, Dr. Shivam Kumar Verma, Dr. Rohit Kumar, and Mr. Ajay Kumar Gour participated in this educational tour. The visit was organized under the guidance of Chairman Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Vice Chairman Mr. Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria, aiming to provide students with firsthand exposure to cooperative agricultural marketing, seed production, and fertilizer management practices. The experience allowed students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world agricultural operations, enhancing their understanding of modern agricultural practices.
NAFED, or the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India, is an apex body established in 1958 under India’s Ministry of Agriculture. Its primary objective is to promote cooperative marketing of agricultural, horticultural, and forest produce, ensuring fair market access and better returns for farmers. During the visit, students observed NAFED’s extensive network and functioning, which includes storage facilities, input supply chains, processing units, and import/export trade operations. The visit also highlighted how NAFED assists its members in product marketing, procurement of essential agricultural inputs, and technical support to improve productivity.
The students gained valuable insights into the role of cooperatives in strengthening the agricultural sector. NAFED’s emphasis on providing processing, storage, and distribution services, along with advisory support for farmers, showcased practical applications of classroom learning. This educational tour not only enhanced the students’ understanding of agricultural marketing and supply chain management but also inspired them to explore innovative approaches to support farmers and rural development. Overall, the visit to NAFED Bio-Sciences served as a significant learning platform, enriching the academic experience of the students and reinforcing the Index Group of Institutions’ commitment, under the leadership of Chairman Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Vice Chairman Mr. Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria, to provide hands-on, industry-oriented exposure.
The Index Institute of Agricultural Sciences celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great devotion and enthusiasm on 27th August 2025. The event witnessed active participation from 85 students and 4 faculty members, and was graced by Chairman Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Vice Chairman Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria, who encouraged the students to uphold cultural and environmental values. The celebration commenced with the installation of Lord Ganesha’s idol at a beautifully decorated pandal within the campus. Guided by the faculty, students performed the Ganesh Sthapana rituals, while devotional songs and aarti filled the atmosphere with spiritual energy and joy.
During the celebration, faculty members highlighted the significance of Ganesh Chaturthi, emphasizing Lord Ganesha as the symbol of wisdom, prosperity, and the remover of obstacles. Students also spoke about celebrating festivals responsibly and sustainably. The program promoted eco-friendly practices, featuring clay idols, natural decorations, and the use of flowers, leaves, and agricultural produce, aligning with the Institute’s core focus on agriculture and environmental conservation. Chairman Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Vice Chairman Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria appreciated these efforts, encouraging students to embrace traditions while caring for the environment.
The event featured vibrant cultural activities, including devotional songs, speeches, and traditional dance performances by students. The message of eco-friendly celebration and environmental conservation was communicated strongly, inspiring all participants to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. The celebration concluded with Ganesh Aarti, followed by the distribution of Prasad, fostering unity, joy, and community spirit. Overall, the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration strengthened the bond between students, faculty, and management, reinforced cultural values, and promoted awareness of sustainable practices, reflecting the Institute’s vision of holistic education and responsible living.
On 22nd August 2025, the Index Institute of Agricultural Sciences, under the esteemed guidance of Chairman Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Vice Chairman Mr. MayankRaj Singh Bhadoria, had the privilege to organize an insightful session on “Revolutionizing the Future of Sustainable Bioplastics”, in collaboration with Bioyug and Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (BCML). The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including 67 students, 50 researchers, and 85 entrepreneurs, fostering a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange. The session focused on Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) bioplastics, an innovative, eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastics. The discussion highlighted how PLA, derived from renewable resources, is paving the way toward a cleaner and more sustainable planet by reducing plastic waste and promoting circular economy principles.
The resource persons from the Index Institute of Agricultural Sciences provided valuable insights into the scientific, environmental, and industrial aspects of PLA. Attendees learned about the technological innovations, production processes, and applications of PLA bioplastics, emphasizing their potential to transform multiple sectors including packaging, agriculture, and consumer goods. The collaboration with Bioyug, a pioneering PLA manufacturing venture under BCML, showcased India’s first-ever industry-scale bio-polymer plant. This forward-looking initiative aligns with global sustainability goals and India’s vision for combating climate change, echoing the objectives championed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
The event also served as a platform to inspire young minds, researchers, and entrepreneurs to actively participate in sustainable innovations. Discussions revolved around entrepreneurial opportunities, environmental responsibility, and strategic business integration within the bio-plastics sector. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation to contribute toward a sustainable and circular economy.
